Toilets, eye tracking, and graph interfaces

An early day beginning with Computing the Mental Lexicon. Hadn’t had time to do more than skim the papers, which turned out to be more than anyone else in the class. The effects of exams are showing on people’s faces.

In the afternoon I particpated in another eye tracking experiment, this time with 3D images. Cool, but they give you a headache after a while. But it’s these funky things that I like about being back in school: when I was sitting in a cubicle, I never got asked to be in any experiments!

The boiler in our flat leaks water, so you have to fill it every so often. Today was that day. As you can see in the photo, this requires removing the faucet, and then attaching a hose from the sink to a pipe near the floor. The other thing to notice in the picture is the little sticker in the top-right. It has a picture of a figure sitting on the toilet, beside is a crossed out figure standing in front of the toilet. That’s right, in Germany men are not allowed to pee while standing. See here.

Fabian’s excited that the NeuroInfomatik test was quite easy, and that the Math exam looks to be passable as well. We’re all going out tonight to celebrate.
