An interesting article in TechCruch describes Diggscaperedilicous, a bookmarklet that will post a link simultaneously to Digg, Netscape, Reddit and Del.icio.us. Mike asks if this is a form of spam, but I would say that it represents a flaw of all 4 systems.
The “hotlist” features of current bookmarking sites are isolationist in that they only count “votes” from their own members. This in spite of many “fair-trade” features such as RSS.
Why isn’t there a site that determines what’s popular across all services? Where my vote get’s counted whether I leave it as a digg, a delicious bookmark, a Reddit mark, a StumbleUpon thumbs-up, a link in my blog, or any of the million other ways that lat you indicate that you like a URL?
It is coming, however. I can promise you that!
